It's quite amazing to watch a field of brilliantly colored ORIENTAL POPPIES (Papaver Orientale) fluttering in the breeze.  They are native to Northeastern Turkey, Northern Iran and the Caucasus.

Interesting Notes:
Contrary to popular belief, Oriental Poppies do not contain narcotic alkaloids such as morphine or codeine. They are, however, closely related to the Great Scarlet Poppy (Papaver Bracteatum) grown for the extraction of thebaine.
