We always enjoy going to see The San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade. It was started way back in the 1860s and continues each Chinese New Year winding from Market Street to Union Square to Chinatown. Since 1958, it has been coordinated and presented by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The beautiful floats, fancy cars with their dignitaries, numerous colorful marching bands, martial arts performers with their dragons and lion dancers, all contribute to this spectacular rolling showcase. The Chinese New Year Parade has been seen by over three million spectators and television viewers and is siad to be the largest parade of its kind in the world.
